2009 Parade Theme Ideas

Hey everyone! It's that time of year again when we start to think about the Parade theme for the 4th of July. The MIA Board is looking for your input and thoughts on this year's theme. All ideas, crazy or not, are welcome and will be taken into consideration when the Board chooses a theme. Leave your ideas as a comment below this post.

  1. I think 'Comic Books' or just 'Comics' might be fun.

The Shaws on UPV love "Go Green"

Maybe "extra points" could be given to those floats made entirely from recycled, reused or renewable resources.

Disneyland, Disney Movie, Animated Pixar Movie, Movies Of The 2000, Country Around The World? Go Green Is A Wonderful Idea But alot of streets wouldn't know what to do for it, So You wouldnt get about 4 streets who are regulars.

Four streets not knowing what to do for Green? Doesn't sound like a very scientific statistic. I always get amused by how some people think others lack the creativity to adapt a theme.

I have heard some good feedback about "TV Shows of the 70's & 80's". There are a lot of options in that category.

TV Shows of the 70's and 80's excludes the kids. Not feeling it.

Seems like Green gets a lot of conversation here. At school, my children are involved in many activities that are based on Green initiatives. In fact, I would argue kids have some of the most creative ideas when it comes to Green.

Going back to TV Shows of the 70's & 80's - a lot of kids have seen these shows on TV Land and Nickolodean (i.e. Brady Bunch, Get Smart, Partridge Family and much newer ones too, the possibilities are endless). Kids know the theme songs and the characters. They are actually more informed than we think.

Disneyland is a great idea. Go Green is just too sterile for something as festive as this. Let's keep it light!

  22. Thanks for all the great suggestions. I've opened a final poll which includes all the options from the first poll, suggestions from the comments and the "other" votes. These will be aggregated to help the board make the final decision on May 6, 2009 at 7:30pm.
